Default Word 2007 Column Format Problem

I have a very large document that was created in Word 2003 and is formatted
to use 3 columns. It looks fine in Word 2003. When I open it in Word 2007
Compatibility Mode, many of the pages show the text from the top of column 2
overlapping the text at the bottom of column 3.

The document appears to print correctly, but the problem makes it very
difficult to proof and edit the text.

Any suggestions for fixing this?

Default Word 2007 Column Format Problem

I have additional information.

The problem occurs when the vertical alignment of the section layout is set
to justified. If I change the vertical alignment to top, bottom or center,
the text no longer overlaps.

Any thoughts?

I can only recreate it in a continous section preceded by a continous section.
