Default compare worksheets in same workbook

is it possible to compare 2 or more worksheets in the same workbook or do you
have to copy the worksheets to other workbooks in order to compare them?

Hi
do you want to compare the complete worksheets or only a specific
column?

I am comparing about 10 to 15 columns - the rest are all blank.

What is the difference? In Excel, when you have 2 Excel files open you can
select window and then arrange. The 2 Excel files are lined up. To compare
2 workshhets in the same file, you can copy the original to another file then
compare the two worksheets (now in different files) using the arrange
function in the window tab. However, they have to be in different files to
compare them that way. You can't compare them in the same file because you
can only open one worksheet at a time in an Excel file.

I answered my own question, didn't I. They really do have to be in separate
files to compare them. But you can copy or move a worksheet from one Excel
file to another. It would be the same if you just copy the entire file and
delete worksheets you don't need. Or uou can copy worksheet from several
filews into one file.

Peter -

The sheets being compared side by side can be in the same workbook. Choose New Window from the
Window menu. This will open a second window just like the first. One is names Book.xls:1, the
other Book.xls:2. Now you can switch one window the the other sheet, compare sheets, then close
one window (use the X in the top right corner, because File-Close will close all windows for the
active workbook).

This is also the answer to a FAQ: "Why do my windows have :1 and :2 after the file name?"
