Problem with maximising Word
Apologies for the cross-posting - I'm not entirely sure whether this is a
problem in Word or Windows, although it only manifests in Word... [Running Office 2003 SP" under XP Pro Sp2.] A colleague emailed me a Word document which, when I opened (after virus-checking, obviously!). When I restored down the Word window behaved as normal, but when I maximised it again, the Word window only took up about ¾ of the page (the full width, but not the full height). Because it's maximised I can't move the page, but it appears as though it's off-screen, as the bottom ¼ is un-viewable. This doesn't seem to be happening in any other application I've tried so far. Excel, Outlook, IE, etc all open and maximise as normal, but I cannot work out how to properly maximise the Word window on any document. Any ideas gratefully accepted! TIA |

Problem with maximising Word
Have you tried "grabbing" the corners of your smaller
Word display by using your mouse and dragging the corners out to maximize the screen? Once you're satisfied with the results of manually maximizing the screen, exit. Then open it again. If this works like it does for all other apps, the screen that gave you trouble should reopen in maximized mode without your intervention. Good luck. "Trent SC" wrote in message ... Hi Trent You could try clicking on the Word Window menu and selecting Arrange All (that's what it's called in my copy, but I'm still on Word 97 -- yours may be slightly different :-) That should bring the window back to the right position. If it doesn't help: click on the maximise button in the top right to put the window into "manual" mode, then grab the corner, make the window a bit smaller then "pull" it up with your mouse until you can see the bottom of the window. Now resize it manually to "maximised" -- (don't use the button), then close. Word should remember the size and position now. Hope this helps. -- Nightowl |

Problem with maximising Word
Thanks to you and nightowl for the helpful input. However, this provides
only a workaround for the problem rather than a solution. I use the 'restore down' feature a great deal, so the ability to switch between fully maximised and restored down is a boon. The suggestion you kindly made does not address the underlying problem. Problem with maximising Word
Have you recently changed screen resolution, or are you using dual monitors?

Problem with maximising Word
Hi Suzanne,
No, single, 1 year-old monitor here, and the software set-up is pretty-much unchanged, apart from the recent installation of SP2 for Office 2003, which had no discernable difference on the set-up until this morning. However, I think I've found the solution to the problem: Outlook 2003 is set to use Microsoft Word as the email editor, and when I deselected that option, the issue with maximising Word disappeared. I can't really see why Outlook has an effect on the Word screen size, but it's now sorted. Weird! Anyway, big thanks to all who responded with helpful suggestions. They willingness of people to offer unconditional support on newsgroups is always heartening. Have you recently changed screen resolution, or are you using dual monitors?
