Email opens file as presentation instead of slideshow
Hi,
One of my email accounts always tries to open a slideshow as a powerpoint presentation, therefore I can't see the slideshow and get an error message because the file is not a presentation , but a slide show. PS - when I try forwarding that message to another email account, it opens perfectly. Thanks much. |

Email opens file as presentation instead of slideshow
PowerPoint can only open in one of two ways, either in the edit mode or the
slideshow mode, depending on the file extension of the presentation, which is either .ppt or .pps. What is the error message your receiving? -- Michael Koerner MS MVP - PowerPoint "MF" wrote in message ... Email opens file as presentation instead of slideshow
It is pps, but for some reason my email account tries to open as
presentation. It opens a blank presentation. If I try to save it to 'my doc' and open afterwards, I get an error message saying "Powerpoint can't read the outline from file name.ppt. No text converter is installed for this file type" "Michael Koerner" wrote: PowerPoint can only open in one of two ways, either in the edit mode or the slideshow mode, depending on the file extension of the presentation, which is either .ppt or .pps. On that machine, I would start by doing a detect and repair in PowerPoint.
also make sure that you have all the latest patches installed for you version of PowerPoint.Your not by chance trying to open a PowerPoint 2007 file with an earlier version of PowerPoint? -- Michael Koerner MS MVP - PowerPoint "MF" wrote in message ... Nope.
I have 2007 MS powerpoint (I have windows vista running) and am trying to open a pps from 2003 version. I just did the detect and repair (the equivalent for the 2007 version) but am not sure about the latest patches. How do I make sure I have them installed? thanks. Email opens file as presentation instead of slideshow
Here is a solution to your problem posted earlier by Glenna Shaw PowerPoint
MVP See: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/924074 PowerPoint When you use the Open dialog box or when you use a drag-and-drop operation to move the file into the version of PowerPoint that you are using, you receive the following error message: PowerPoint can't read the outline from filename. No text converter is installed for this file type. When you double-click the file in Windows Explorer, the file opens correctly. To resolve this issue, install each update for your version of the Office program. -- Michael Koerner MS MVP - PowerPoint "MF" wrote in message ... Nope.
