Default Access 2003 pivot table view problem

We are having a strange problem running queries that used to run just fine.
We have VBA code that opens the queries from a form in pivot table view. The
new message we get is: "The query could not be processed: The data provider
didn't supply any further error information". This error shows up in the Data
section of the pivot table, but the field handle thingies show up on the grid.

We've seen this problem on three machines: two new ones running XP Pro and
Access 2003 SP2, and an old Win2k machine running Access 2003 SP2 also. These
queries used to run fine on the old Win2k/A2003 machines.

We get the same error whether we run the production version of the Access
front-end (ODBC drivers to SQL2k box), a development version, or a new .mdb
with all objects imported and all VBA references set correcly for Office 2003.

Has anyone seen this before, or any ideas what could be causing it?

Many, many thanks!
