substandard typography
Just tried the Publisher 2007 Beta 2. The CMYK and PDF export are
great, but the typography is still substandard. Microsoft Word has long had an option (hidden in the compatibility settings) for "WordPerfect justification." This just means that Word can contract wordspacing as well as expand it to justify a line. This is standard in page layout programs, but even though Word offers it, Publisher doesn't. So justified text always comes out "loose." This kind of justification should be the default! Microsoft, don't tease us. If you're going to come this close to a decent page layout program, give us the rest of what we need. Aaron |
