Default Line numbers include chapter number and extra formatting

Hi,
I was working with a document that had line numbering enabled. I was
using "track changes." I don't know what happened, but all of a sudden
the phrase "CHAPTER 1" appeared before all the line numbers throughout
the whole document, in chapter 1 and otherwise.

I tried to "reject" the change, but it removed all of the line
numbering. Then I tried to add line numbering back normally, but the
"CHAPTER 1" was included again. I closed and reopened it=same problem.
I accepted all changes, saved, closed, still does it.

Thanks.

A user in the numbering newsgroup reported that repairing the Word
installation fixed the problem. Have you tried that? Just click the
Detect and Repair option on the Help menu.
