Default Concerning calculated columns and forms!

I originally created a subform to hold calculated information. I then
discovered it isn't possible to sum a calculated field in a subform footer
(if this is incorrect let me know!).

So I decided to use all the same fields in a query and base the form on
that. If I create three calculated columns in the query it now treats each
line as a single record so I can't create a form and subform.

What can I do?

You can sum the calculation itself in the form footer. If you are
multiplying quantity and unit price, an unbound text box in the subform's
form footer would contain something like:
=Sum([Quantity]*[UnitPrice])
