Move data from one column to another
Hi
I'm not so sure what you're trying to achive. You may post an example of the source data and the expected result -- Regards Frank Kabel Frankfurt, Germany "Denise Posey" schrieb im Newsbeitrag ... I am using Excel 2002 and I am trying to move data from one column into another. The column I want to move data from does not have data in every cell. I only want to move the "non blank" cells. For Example: If cell B2 has text/number, move to cell A2 A B C D Dallas TX 75252 Plano TX 75075 McKinney TX 75070 I tried using the "=CellToRight" Name-Define function but it wasn't working properly. I even tried to create a macro, but it only worked for that cell. Any help is greatly appreciated! Denise Posey |

Move data from one column to another
To do this manually (you can record a macro as you do this),
Select the range of cells that you want to compress Choose EditGo To Click the Special button Choose Blanks, click OK Choose EditDelete Select 'Shift Cells left', click OK Denise Posey wrote: I am using Excel 2002 and I am trying to move data from one column into another. Ignoring any blank cells in column B. I am using Excel 2002 on Windows XP -----Original Message----- Hi I'm not so sure what you're trying to achive. Move data from one column to another
Debra,
I tried this the first time but a little differently. When I follow you steps and get to 'Shift Cells left' it didn't do anything. Can you think of what I am doing wrong. I'm not sure if I explained myself well enough in the first posting, but what I want to do is move everything from a particular column and ignore any blank cells. Thanks again, Denise -----Original Message----- To do this manually (you can record a macro as you do this), Select the range of cells that you want to compress Choose EditGo To Click the Special button Choose Blanks, click OK Choose EditDelete Select 'Shift Cells left', click OK Denise Posey wrote: I am using Excel 2002 and I am trying to move data from one column into another. Move data from one column to another
Perfect!!! Thanks again. I hate when it's right at your
fingertip, but just can't remember what to do! -----Original Message----- I misunderstood your goal. Try the following on a copy of your data: Select column B Choose EditCopy Select Column A Choose EditPaste Special Select 'Skip blanks', click OK Select column B Press the Delete key wrote: Debra, I tried this the first time but a little differently.
