Email Headers when sending fax from Outlook

Greetings, I have just used Outlook 2003 to send an email to two recipients,
one with an email addresss, the other with a Business Fax address. In
looking in the Sent Faxes folder, the email sent to the fax recipient did not
include the normal From/:To:/Date:, etc. at the top of the email It only
had "SUBJECT: " and the contents of the subject line in all caps, with what
looks like a 24 point Courier type face. The body of the message, including
some graphics and type face changes came out fine.

Is the lack of a normal header and strange font normal behavior? Thanks!

Probably normal, but it's hard to say. You did not specify your Fax software
or how you routed the fax to a custom folder.

Hello Russ, I'm sending the fax within Outlook via the Fax Mail Transport
that uses Microsoft Fax Services. After I send the email to the fax number
in Outlook it appears in the Outbox and then the Sent folders in the
Microsoft Fax Services Fax Console application.

Interesting... When you send an email to a fax address there is no
opportunity to choose a cover page that I can determine, or are you saying
that becuase there is no opportunity for a choice of cover page to be made
during this type process, that is the reason for the weird look of the fax?

Yes.
That information is normally included on a Cover page, so fax messages have
a different format.
You can specify a cover page in the properties of the Fax Service.

Thanks Russ. I found the properties page you were referring to allowing me
to specify a cover page when sending an email to a fax recipient. Its
actually a property of the Fax Mail Transport in Outlook, not the Microsoft
Fax Service bundled with Windows XP.

Thanks Russ, just wanted to make sure others reading this thread were aware .

One note to others who are thinking of using this type of communications, I
sent an email with a body and attachment to a fax recipient. The default
cover page that can be specified as well as the attachment (a word document)
was sent perfectly. However, the normal email header people receive (To,
From, Date, Subject, etc.) was absent. The body of the email appeared alone
(without the email header info) on the page after the cover page, followed by
the Word attachment on a new page, so it does loook a bit peculiar to the
recipient..

Something else you might try, depending on your needs:
If you send a document from an Office application to a fax recipient using
the "Send to Mail Recipient" command and place a note in the Introduction
field, than that note will appear above the first page of the document, not
on a separate page.
Whatever you do, don't use the "Send To Fax Recipient" command even though
it seems the more logical thing to do. You'll be sorry if you do.
