Default Axis to scale

I am plotting a chart that shows the distance on the x
axis and the altitude on the y axis. I want the x axis to
be the scale but this is complicated because I have the
name places also on the x axis and Excel is just assuming
that all the locations are equi distant apart and they are
not. Any ideas? Thanks.

Default Axis to scale

Create a XY Scatter chart.

Then, to add the labels, create a dummy series with the appropriate x
values and y value set to zero. For this dummy series, add the names
using either the XY Chartlabeler (www.appspro.com) or Chart Tools
(www.j-walk.com). Finally, and if appropriate, hide the default x-axis
labels.
