Default File size larger than 512mb help pls!

Lo guys for my uni work I have been creating a photographic portfolio using word (god knows why =/). now it wont let me open the file to finish or even view it as it is over 512mb despite the fact i saved it using word - if any1 is able to help me with a way of opening, or viewing the file so i can print it, it would be a big big help as i have spent a long time creating it.

Cheers Edwyn

there's still a maximum file size limitation in Word, but it only
applies to the raw text amount:

WD2000: Operating Parameter Limitations and Specifications
http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q211489

Operating parameter limitations and specifications in Word
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/211489/en-us

So, in essence, the file _should_ be openable unless it's corrupt. At
least on a powerful system (best bet: on a powerful system that created
the file).

Did you insert the photos into Word, and/or link them? What version of
Word are you using? What error message?

I am using word 2007 on a laptop with 4gb of RAM, the error message i get is:

Word cannot open this file because it is larger than 512megabytes.
(C:\Users\...\photographicportfolio.docx)

I have been able to recover the text so far but, have been still be unable to open the file to see the pictures and tables.

Make a copy of the file and then change the extension from docx to zip. You
should then be able to access the different parts of the document.

Hope this helps.

Did you succeed?
Does OpenOffice have the same file siize limit?
oops- does OOo handle docx yet?

Using the 'open as zip' trick, you could probably just rip a few megs
of pic files out of the doc, to bring it under 512 MB.
Then open it with Word, and split it into sections.
