Default Combine Text & Page Number in Word 2010 so the text shows in TOC

Is it possible to add text to a page number so that it shows in the TOC? Example = Appendix-1, I want the Appendix text to show in the footer AND in the TOC - without having to add it manually to the TOC. I know how to use dumb text & a hyphen in a footer.. that's not what I'm looking for. I want the text to be part of the page number... like a Chapter # lets you do. Back in the day you could do it, but I couldn't find it in 2003 & I'm wondering if 2010 added that feature. So far I have been unable to find anything. Can I use a field, building block, switch.. something/anything to add text?
