Default Post For Diane Poremsky - Outlook 2007 Help Please!

Diane,
I had to get a new laptop. I originally used the export/import functions to
move my Outlook data from my old laptop to the new laptop. When I did this,
the address book and contacts list did not match. I saw some older posts and
read that I should just simply move the .pst file over and not use the
import/export function. I did that, howver the 2 lists still do not match.
When I go to Contacts/properties. the "Show this folder as an email address
book" is grayed out. You mentioned in antoher psot that this is a bug and
that I need to create a new profile. I do not know how to do this. Also I
tried to add a new contact to my address book and when I tried to select
"Outlook Adress Book", instead of "Contacts" I get a message saying I am
unable to add entries to this address book. It seems that this is a very
common problem and all us end users are making the same error, however, there
doesn't seem to be ( or I have yet to find) a document that gives a goods
consice step by step procedure on how to transfer an Outlook 2007 pst file
from 1 laptop to another. Can you please help us all out?

1. How to create a new mail profile.
Go to Control Panel-Mail-Show Profiles-Add. It's as easy as that!
Then in the same area, add the pst file you copied across.

2. To transfer Outlook Data correctly:
On the old machine, with Outlook closed, copy the pst file to whatever
method you are using to transfer it.
On the new machine, paste the file into a folder to which you have
read/write permissions. DO NOT OVERWRITE ANY EXISTING PST FILE.
Right-click on the pst file you have copied, choose "Properties" and check
that the read-only attribute is off.
Open Outlook and do File-Open-Outlook Data File and navigate to where you
copied the file to.
You can then either copy the data from the old file to the new, or set the
old file as the default delivery location.

So I tried following your instructions and it didn't go well. So I went back
to my old laptop and looked at Outlook and found that it's doing the same
thing. So at this point, I want to start completely new. All I want to do is
be able to copy over my personal folders and not the contacts or address
book. I plan on sycnhing my blackberry to put everything back into Outlook.
Is there a way of doing this?
