BIG Office 2007 beta 2 re-Install problem

Hi, I've posted this in the Office setup area (yesterday), and got no
responses, so I decided to try my luck here. Here is the problem: I
installed office 2007, and decided that I did not want outlook 2007. So I
uninstalled outlook 2007 pro only to find that outlook 2003 would not work.
So to fix outlook, I uninstalled office 2007, and fixed outlook 2003. So now
I want to reinstall office 2007 (without outlook) but keep getting the
following message right after entering the keycode:

"An error occurred druing the installation and Microsoft Office Professional
Plus 2007 (Beta) setup was unable to complete."

The original uninstall of office 2007 beta 2 worked fine as far as I know.
The problem I am having effects all of the beta products. I get the same
error even if I try to install visio 2007 beta 2. I have generated my
setuplog file from %temp% below and it looks like this last bit is my
problem. I keep on
getting the same hex error for the same "download ID" each time I try to
reinstall the beta:

Error: Failed to create download: cannot get or load download from the
given download ID "{30120000-0011-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}-C". Error code:

The MS uninstall utility cleaner will not help me because office 2007 pro
uninstalled cleanly. Currently, I have office 2003 SP 2 installed and
everything works. I would like to avoid uninstalling office 2003 if I can
avoid it. As I've said, this problem now effects the visio 2007 pro
installation as well, so I would like to try to understand why office will
not reinstall. If we can determine why this is happening, we will in all
likelyhood fix the visio issue as well.

Dude, you need to STOP installing Betas on systems where you have vital
applications installed and hope for them to work.

Uninstall ALL Office products, use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to
remove all traces (both 2003 and 2007), get VMWare or Virtual PC, install
your Office 2003 in your production environment, and PLAY with Office 2007
in a virtual session.

And, to all the others who thought they woud "try" the beta and then come
whining here when things get messed up on their production machines, thanks
for all the laughs.

| The MS uninstall utility cleaner will not help me because office 2007
| pro uninstalled cleanly. Currently, I have office 2003 SP 2
| installed and everything works. I would like to avoid uninstalling
| office 2003 if I can avoid it. As I've said, this problem now
| effects the visio 2007 pro installation as well, so I would like to
| try to understand why office will not reinstall. If we can determine
| why this is happening, we will in all likelyhood fix the visio issue
| as well.

I apologize for my rude post. You must see lots of posts that to you seem a
waste of bandwidth. Regardless of what machine, (virtual or an actual box) I
installed the software on, (and the machine that I installed the software on
was not my production box), I have encountered a problem that I would like to
try to solve. I would like to try to solve the problem so that I can
evaluate the software. If uninstalling office 2003 is the ONLY solution,
then of course, I will eventually uninstall office 2003 and try to reinstall
the beta. To me, this seems somewhat of a drastic measure if an easier
solution can be found. If I uninstall office 2003 first, then try to
reinstall the beta and it fails, I am back to reinstalling office 2003 and
starting from square one (again regardless if the machine is virtual,
production or otherwise). I did consider your suggestions before even
posting originally, but thought that given that this is a beta of office
2007, MS would want to know about all of the problems encountered by users so
that they could find useful solutions to include in future builds.

As you know, the windows installer cleanup utility only clears the installer
database of those programs that did not uninstall "cleanly". Since this was
not the case in my instance, office 2007 beta does not even appear in the
list of "installed" applications.

Again, please accept my apology. If you cannot help with this issue,
perhaps someone else can.

case I'm trying to uninstall MSO12 b1, in order to upgrade to b2, but
it keeps saying "Microsoft Office Professional Enterprise Edition 12
[pre-release] uninstall did not complete successfully."

any ideas?

Since you had to be an official beta tester to install anything prior to the
public beta 2 release, I would apply to the beta news groups that you
accessed via the credentials sent to you by the Office Beta Team when you
were accepted as a beta tester.

Hi milly-

After much consideration, I uninstalled office 2k3. I went to all of the
common folders (under both program files common files and under my user
profile local settings) and nixed those as well. Went to the registry and
deleted all office keys. Rebooted. Tried to install the beta. Got the same
error. I suppose that there is a key in the registry somewhere that is
fouling things up.

I reinstalled office 2k3 without problems.

I don't get it.
Tried to install the beta. Got the same
error. I suppose that there is a key in the registry somewhere that is
fouling things up.

I reinstalled office 2k3 without problems.

It didn't work and then did work?
