Error on install

I have office 2007 Small Business. When I put in CD #1 install will run for a
very short time then I get a error message (no message #) saying an error has
occured and install has stopped. Tried every option install offers with the
same thing happening. I have uninstalled all the old versions. Can you tell
me what is wrong? I am running XP.
