Default How to turn off hyperlink screentips?

This Q has been asked since at least 1999.

Has MS ever fixed Excel to let you disable hyperlink screentips? They
are an extreme annoyance.

I see people saying that toggling Excel's screentips property doesn't
affect hyperlinks.

I can't handle any workaround requiring you to edit every cell, such
as making the screentip's text a single space (since they also say a
null string doesn't work--even when Microsoft can't get it right, they
can't get it right), for two reasons.

One, I've got hundreds of the buggers. Two, I'm not using the
Hyperlink dialog. All my hyperlinks are a simple =HYPERLINK()
function.

Thanks much.

In Excel 2002 and 2003 I don't see any tooltip for my HYPERLINK
functions, though I do for inserted hyperlinks.

Only in 2007 do I see tooltips for HYPERLINK functions.

I agree with you there is no way to turn them off completely - only
using a space as a tip (for inserted hyperlinks), or entering a cell
comment in the cells containing hyperlinks.

I have posted a suggestion on a database used by the Excel development
team requesting an option to turn off the tooltips in a future version.
