KittenJasmine,

The only way you have Office is if you paid for it. It has nothing to do
with which version of Windows that is installed on your computer. Your
former employer paid for those programs.

Why do you think that you should have them? Does your reciept for your
computer state that you own Office? I'm asking because not all computers
come with it - it is not a standard software package.

Oh Hades, another blonde! Just because you had it at work, why do you think
you should have it at home?! Windows 98 is an *OPERATING SYSTEM*, not an
Office suite. Yes, you're right, it's somewhere - your local software
emporium. You can't purchase any version of Office that will run under 98
now.

There must be something about June that brings out the blond(e)s. I see more
this month than any other (well maybe school holidays are an exception).

Installing Office for Dummies
-----------------------------------------

1) Put on your coat and, using your preferred transportation method, head
to your nearest software emporium

2) Find the Office Utilities section in said store and locate Office
(making sure you select the correct version and licence)

3) Take the box to the counter and hand it over, together with your
preferred payment method.

4) He will hand it back in a nice clean carrier bag.

5) Return home using your preferred transportation method.

6) Take the box out of the carrier bag and remove shrinkwrap

7) Open box and remove jewel case.

8) Open the jewel case

9) Open CD drive and place disc on tray.

10) Close drive

11) Disc will autorun - follow on screen prompts (inserting qualifying
media where/if necessary)

Congratulations! You've just installed Office!

Miss Tick,

There's something awfully familiar about your tone of voice. And please be
kind about the blonde comments - I've been accused of being one and my mom
really is one. ;-)

Also, if Miss Kittenjasmine is under the mistaken impression that she
"should" have it and doesn't, she may not know that if she does go to her
local software dealer and buy Office 2003, it will not work on her computer.
I know, you said it in your first paragraph but, lets face it, I get the
impression that English is not her native language.

Are you asking about "templates" or the entire programs?

If you are running Microsoft Office on your Windows 98 computer and need to
find out where your templates are stored, they are normally stored:

C:\Windows folder\Profiles\user name\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates

You can also search your system for the template file extensions:

Microsoft Excel Workbooks (.xls)
Microsoft Excel Templates (.xlt)
Microsoft Excel Scraps
Microsoft Excel 4.0 Worksheets (.xls)
Files Saved in Microsoft Excel 5.0, 7.0, or 97 as 4.0 Workbooks (*.xlw)
SYLK (Symbolic Link) (.slk)
Microsoft Word Documents (.doc)
Microsoft Word Templates (.dot)
Microsoft Word Scraps
Rich-text Format (.rtf)
Microsoft PowerPoint Presentations, version 97, 7.0 and 4.0 only (.ppt)
Microsoft PowerPoint Templates (.pot)
Microsoft PowerPoint Scraps
Microsoft Publisher (..pub)

So if you were looking for your Microsoft Excel templates, you would search
your system (Go to Start Find) and do a search for *.xlt
