Default Formatting formula bar

Without warning, the formula bar has changed font size so that it is almost unreadable (small). How do I change it back (or how did I change it small)?

another question. The auditing toolbar when added remains perpetually greyed out making it useless. Why did this happen?

The default font selected under Tools, Options, General controls the formula
bar font. If you change it you need to restart Excel for it to take effect.

The Auditing toolbar is disable for me only if an object is selected
currently or if I'm on a chart sheet or a macro a sheet. If a normal
worksheet cell is selected the toolbar is enabled.

You might try selecting the Formula Auditing toolbar under View, Toolbars,
Customize, Toolbars and clicking the Reset button...
