Default Installing 2003 on external drive

I use Office 2003 for work. As it does not play well with 2007 on the same
drive, I opted to install it on an external drive. However, unless I keep
the drive plugged in, it trys to set up 2003 continuously. Why does it do
that? And, how do I stop it?

Thanks

Why repost your Q, did you not read the replies?
Since 2007 can both read 2003 files and save in 2003 format it is rarely
neccessary to have 2003 installed

Because I'm having computer issues, and every time I opened this website, my
question didn't show up.

Yes, I know 2007 saves in "compatibility" mode. But when I'm working on a
government proposal and they want 2003, I am not about to trust 2007 to do
what it's supposed to.

Then on your home PC learn how to use the default newsreader.
Works for me, on governmental proposals here
