Default Pages Numbers on Landscape pages

I have a 350+ book created in Word (master document plus
5 subdocuments).

One of the appendices is in landscape orientation,
whereas the rest of the book is in portrait. I want all
the page numbers to appear in the footer, but wont the
footer of the landscape pages be sidewise on the right?

Does this make sense? How can I make sure the page
numbers will be horizontal, along the bottom of each page?

You can put the page number field inside a Textbox which allows you to
rotate it plus or minus ninety degrees.

I tried this, but I couldn't position the text box
outside the table that appears on the page...

What version of Word are you using? Beginning (I think it was with XP) you
can also rotate the text in the cell of table plus or minus ninety degrees.
