I did that and it still says the message. I've tried even deleting what I
thought was the offending dbx file. Oh. and does it mater that i have all
toled about 103 or so folders? does the amount of folders matter in oE?
Chould this be why I'm getting the mesage? Thanks.

Default unable to compact all folders in OE

[I have read all replies in this thread as of this post.]

Your current Identity may be damaged, especially if its the default Main
Identity. Try one or more of your accounts in a new Named Identity (File
Identities Add new identity). Assuming all is well in the new identity:

1. Open the old identity Tools Options Maintenance Store folder will
reveal the location of the identity's store
(http://www.insideoe.com/files/store.htm#storemain). Write it down.

In WinXP, Win2K and Win2K03, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default
marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable
Show Hidden Files and Folders under Start Control Panel Folder Options
View.

2. Close OE.

3. Delete the file FOLDERS.DBX from your old identity's store. [NB: If
you've already done this, skip this step. This will cause you to lose the
mail tree structure (Folders pane), the list of newsgroups on all
newsservers, all synchronization options/settings, and most message rules
will need to be edited.]

4. Open OE to the new identity and Import messages from the old identity
into it. See http://www.insideoe.com/faqs/how.htm#importOE5

5. Now delete the old one (File Identities Manage Identities).

To avoid such corruption in futu

- Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local
folders created for this purpose.

- Empty Deleted Items folder daily.

- Disable Background Compacting [not available in SP2] and frequently
perform a manual compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at
http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm

- WinXP SP2 only: Do not shut down your machine while Windows is
automatically compacting your message store.

- Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause such
corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection.

Ok. I created a new identity and it works, for now at least. Now I can't
import my OE rules. I tried editing the reg key withthe new identity but no
go.I rebooted to make sure my system was rebootable but my rules are not
there at all. I did a past so I now the identity number is right. Thanks.

Despite what the Applies To section says, it does apply to OE6, Marrie.
