Default unnumber pages

I wrote a novel, and I want to leave the first pages
unnumbered. How do I do it?

You didn't give us much information to enable a better
response, but Publisher 2003 Help returned this:

You can use sections to restart the sequence of page
numbering on a specific page in your publication.

On the page sorter (page sorter: One or more paged-shaped
controls, located in the lower left corner of the Publisher
window, that represent each page of the publication and can
be used to go to, rearrange, or work with publication
pages.), right-click the page number where you would like
to restart the sequence of page numbering, and then click
Insert Section on the shortcut menu.
In the Section dialog box, select Begin a section with this
page.
To restart the page numbering with a new value, select
Start at, and then type a page number.
The new section for your publication will be shown by a
break in the sequence of pages in the page sorter.
