Visio Capability
Hello,
I'll try to summarize this and keep it short. I am looking for opinions on the capability of Visio. I was given a project to graphically display truck activity, actually based on the driver, regardless of the truck or trailer. The owner wants the see the revenue miles and fuel purchased between the points on a Calendar like grid. I was originally going to approach this in Access (which will be the datasouce) and somehow came accross Visio so I downloaded it and went through a couple tutorials. I think this will do what I want with a little more experience, but how close I can get is really my question. Driver Sun Mon Tues Wed Thu Fri Sat Smith Brockport---------------Miami NY $1.86/Mile Fl Miami--------Charlotte Other stats Fl $2.15/Mile NC Other stats That is pretty much the layout and I have already come close to that using a Pivot Diagram. I don't believe I will be able to have a static calendar, but that shouldn't be a problem. This is what I wonder about using Visio. If anyone would answer any of the questions I would be greatful. 1) Can I approach this format without all of the extra shapes and text that the Pivot Diagram wizard provides either by setting up a template or through coding or both? 2) Can I control Visio from Access so that the user can click a button on a form to open Viso and create the diagram? Or can I automate the diagram creation from Visio based on the table or query available in Access? Generally how can I approach this? I don't want the user to have to learn Visio and manipulate the design before printing I want to be able to control the output though programming. Thank you for any help and God Bless, Mark A. Sam |

Visio Capability
After working with Visio a little I decided that it would be easier to work
this out in Access. |
