Sorry if this is reposted but I could not see my previous attempt with this
query.

Someone sent me an email with a picture attached. It shows as a red cross
in a box. I have my security settings set to allow attachments to be saved
and can normally see all attachments in other emails. What is blocking this
from showing, is it something from the other end.

TIA B.W.

It could be a linked image and you have OE set to block linked images and
other external content under Tools | Options | Security. Otherwise it could
just be that particular message wasn't properly formatted.

If you can normally display pictures in e-mail, it's likely the problem
is at the other end and the sender did configure their mail program to
actually send the picture.

There are other possible causes which could be at your end..

- Hotbar can cause image problems

- Another possible cause of problems is a corrupted cache. Try clearing
it.

Thanks for all that information Michael, I have printed it out and will keep
it for future reference. I checked out my machine for most of the
suggestions in the articles you pointed me to that might be causing the
problem but everything looked O.K. my end. I have just heard however that
another person who received the same email, had the same problem so it looks
like it's something the sender is doing after all.

Thanks B.W.
