More Duplicate E-mails Outlook 2003
I want to add my 2 cents worth here. I just bought a new system - the latest
in desk top with XP Pro. and Office 2003. I am going crazy getting duplicate copies of every e-mail. It is not a serveer issue. My IT folks say it is a Microsoft Problem. If I use webmail - I only see one copy of each e-mail - but with outlook 2003 - I receive 2 copies of every e-mail sent to me. ....and frustrating. The rest of my office is on office 2000 Premium - and none of them - and neither did I ever receive duplicate e-mails. I am the ONLY one in the office with Office 2003 - and the ONLY one with this problem. I tried the Hot Fix - but it would not download when I clicked on the link. HELP!! John W. One Monday I came in to 21,000 messages. Try going through all of them!! (whew) I have enabled diagnostic logging, but would like to ask if there is a hot fix for this yet. I have read about one, but cannot find one. Again, I don't care what the problem is, I just want it gone. Only the computers running 2003 are affected, not XP or 2000. This leads me to believe it is something unique in the way Outlook 2003 and my server talk, or the way Outlook sees the messages. The hotfix for http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;885243 addresses the problem you seem to be having. I take it that you're seeing *all* mail that has been left on the server being redownloaded? (You really have 21,000 messages left on the server? Jeff,
Sorry, I probably didn't do it right. Anyway, my problem is that after I download my email they are not erased from the server. I can find no way to erase them from Outlook. This appears to be an Outlook problem because Outlook Express takes care of the problem. Do I need to repost a new log file? If you have Norton, that seems to require uninstalling Norton, then reinstalling without selecting the email scanning options. -- Jeff Stephenson Outlook Development This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights |

In early January I switched from outlook express and made my default
microsoft outlook and I have XP and I get duplicates of all my messages whenever I log into outlook. I tried the support thing you mentioned but it is for outlook 2002, 2003. I would like an answer because this is very frustrating especially because they fall right into place date wise and I have to go back through and delete them all and I have 2 email accounts. HELP. This appears to be an Outlook problem because Outlook Express takes care of the problem. Do I need to repost a new log file? Not necessarily. Do you have any anti-virus software that scans incoming messages? If so, disable that incoming scan (outgoing too, actually). If you have Norton, that seems to require uninstalling Norton, then reinstalling without selecting the email scanning options. -- Jeff Stephenson Outlook Development This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights |

In early January I switched from outlook express and made my default microsoft outlook and I have XP and I get duplicates of all my messages whenever I log into outlook. I tried the support thing you mentioned but it is for outlook 2002, 2003. I would like an answer because this is very frustrating especially because they fall right into place date wise and I have to go back through and delete them all and I have 2 email accounts. HELP. If you have Outlook 2002 (from Office XP), see if http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q284404 helps. -- Jeff Stephenson Outlook Development This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights |
