Default ork 2003 install problem

Hi

I am trying to install office resource kit for office 2003 on my computer,
here are the specs:

Windows Me: 4.90.3000
Microsoft Office Professional 97 SR-2

I need to install the resource kit because I want to use the converter pack
(to open wordperfect files). I don't want to install Wordperfect on my
computer.

I downloaded ork.exe from
http://www.microsoft.com/office/ork/...ols/BoxA07.htm

I tried to install it but I get this error message. This happens right at
the beginning, I don't even get a chance to do anything.

"this program requires a newer version of windows"

One of the requirements is Windows Installer 2. So I downloade that too and
I get this error message:

"The specified service already exists."

I tried downloading corel wordperfect viewer but it's nowhere to be found,
it's outdated. All I want to is open Wordperfect files in MS Word 97.

Any help would be appreciated. I found 1 answer to a similar question on
this newsgroup. I don't have the CD so that won't work for me as I downloaded
the file ork.exe from the Microsoft Website

Office 2003 requires Windows 2000 SP-3 or Windows XP.

WordPerfect 5.x and 6.x converters are included on your Office 97 CD. The
converters in the Office 2003 Resource Kit are no better than what you
already have.

"Note The converter pack for Office 2003 also works for Office 97, Office
2000, and Office XP, whose converter packs have been retired."

http://www.microsoft.com/office/ork/...ols/BoxA07.htm

After searching google groups i found the same question unanswered, except
for Windows 98. I only want the resource kit. I don't even HAVE Office 2003.

I cleared my browser history, but did find a page that said I needed windows
installer 2. They expect people install Microsoft Office 97 on Windows XP or
2000? Please let someone else answer the question. Stick to Outlook. I'm an
MCP and I've been searching for about 3 hours, and I always check the
knowledge base first. I writing this from the microsoft website.

I didn't come here to get a snide remark. If you don't know the answer,
shhh. I have WordPerfect files I need to open still.

I need this one.

WordPerfect 6 and above import converter (Wpft632.CNV)

I think it's WordPerfect 9 at least. As long as it opens. I found the
Microsoft FTP site. Anybody know which file I need? I don't think I should
download it just yet though. Is the security problem that bad that they
retired the other converters? Just wondering, you sound like my ex.

So why can't you install the WPFT632.CNV converter from your Office 97
CD? The WPFT632.CNV file included with your Office 97 CD is the same
one that is in the Office 2003 Resource Kit and on the Microsoft FTP
site. It's the newest (and only) converter that Microsoft makes for
WordPerfect versions 6 thru 12, which all share the same basic file
format. Don't expect the converted WP file to look 100% like the
original... you'll probably have to do a bit of reformatting in Word.

Take it easy, Geek Girl. I wasn't trying to offend you. I thought you were
going to answer my question. Why don't you IMPRESS ME and go search in google
groups and go find me an answer. I dare you even, show me the difference
between MCP and [MVP - Outllook]

It'll help the wide world of Microsoft if a person could actually add
converters to their office package without upgrading to Windows XP (I already
have 2 of those with office XP)

Difference between MCP and MVP:

MCP demands MVP go look up answer for MCP
MVP looks up answers on groups.google.com/MSKB/Symantec KB, etc. and does
not demand someone else do the work for them.
