Default Visio shape losing formatting when copying diagram into Word

Whenever I attempt to copy certain Visio shapes (re-formatted to have a
dotted line and re-sized larger) into Word, the dotted line formatting is
lost and Word treats it as a solid line.

For example,
1) open new basic drawing
2) Drag 'square' shape from 'Basic Shapes'
3) Format/Line: set pattern to type '02' (dotted line)
4) Copy shape and paste into Word.

This works correctly without any problem.

However, now re-size the square to about 5 or 6 times it's original default
size and copy back into Word. The line around the square is now shown as a
solid line, rather than dotted as it was in Visio.

In Visio have tried the 'Copy Drawing' and 'Select All/Copy'.
In Word have tried 'Edit/Paste', 'Edit/Paste Special/Microsoft Visio Drawing
Object' and 'Edit/Paste Special/Picture (Enhanced Metafile)' and numerous
combinations of the various Visio copy and Word paste commands but all to no
avail.

In summary, once the shape has been re-sized larger Word treats the dotted
line as if it should be solid.

Any suggestions gratefully received...

Visio version: 11.3216.6568 (Part of Office Professional 2003)

This is intentional in Visio. Here is a KB article with explanation and
solutions.

Default Visio shape losing formatting when copying diagram into Word

Hi, this worked like a charm to fix the dotted lines being converted to solid
lines problem. Thank you!

I need a similar fix for shapes - the fill colour of some shapes in Visio is
being changed when I copy the drawing to Word. I don't know the code to
change the registry for this, but suspect is it something similar to the
MetafileDashLineAsSolid, something like MetafileShapeFillAs...
Can someone please help?

Thanks!
