Deleted files do not go to deleted folder

Hi all, when I delete emails from my inbox it puts a line through them
but does not put them in my deleted folder. It appears they are gone
forever into never never land once I purge the deleted emails. I hate
keeping my inbox full of deleted emails. I don't want to delete them
permanently so I can reference them for a couple of months. Any help
would be appreciated.

That's the way IMAP accounts work.

I wouldn't delete them if you want to reference them later. Maybe keep a
folder on the local computer to move the messages into then as you decide
top delete them you can without having to deal with the purge.
