find and delete the xml file for your profile.

Great advice Diane, I've been trying to solve this for months. I needed to
re import all my files and folders from the old PST file but it's working superbly. Alan "phil" wrote: Creting a new profile has solved the problem. "Favorite Folders" resets every time I close Outlook 2003
I tried both suggestions, but my favorites still get corrupted often.
Typically I see: - some favorites are lost - favorites from other item types appear in wrong list (favorite tasks appear in email favorites along with email favorites) Seems to happen if I logout while Outlook is communicating with Exchange server. I've changed my send/receive settings to not sync when exiting, but Outlook doesn't seem to really quit even when I exit the program (the outlook icon still appears in my notification area). I don't believe so - my profile settings are stored on my C drive (I assume
that would not be the case if I had a roaming profile)? (I'm using XP Pro SP2/Outlook 2003 SP2) Thanks "Diane Poremsky [MVP]" wrote: are you using a roaming profile? -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Author, Teach Yourself Outlook 2003 in 24 Hours Coauthor, OneNote 2003 for Windows (Visual QuickStart Guide) Need Help with Common Tasks? http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/ Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Subscribe to Exchange Messaging Outlook newsletter: |

"Favorite Folders" resets every time I close Outlook 2003
I have been having the same problem for a few weeks. I have also noticed
that if an IMAP folder that is in my favorites suddenly moves (to "contacts" for example) or disappears, the link to the mail folder also disappears and I cannot read mail without deleting the item from the favorites folder and restarting. I am not using an exchange server or logging on to a network so no raoming profile either. The items can even disappear without closing outlook, just by minimizing. Any help would be appreciated. "Favorite Folders" resets every time I close Outlook 2003
This seems to have done the trick (at least for now), thanks. I did notice
that after using the switch, the 1 MB "outlook.N2K" that used to be in my profile directory is gone. Any idea what that file was for? I noticed from other posts that deleting that file along with the XLM also seems to fix the problem and the N2K file is not recreated on restart. Regards, Chad "Roady [MVP]" wrote: Start Outlook with the /resetnavpane switch and try again; Start- Run; outlook.exe /resetnavpane -- Robert Sparnaaij [MVP-Outlook] Coauthor, Configuring Microsoft Outlook 2003 http://www.howto-outlook.com/ Outlook FAQ, HowTo, Downloads, Add-Ins and more ----- "chnelson04" wrote in message ...
