Penny rounding!
When using the "if" function on the function wizard, I'm having problems with penny rounding. I have three columns. Column 1 is a net figure, and column 2 is sales tax, at 17.5% and these two cannot be changed. In my third column I have put in a sum to check that column 2 is 17.5% of column 1. Because of penny roundings it is not always exactly 17.5%. I want to take column 4 and put in a function that will tell me if column 3 is not 17.5%. The IF function does this, but 1p roundings gets loads of "Error" messages. How can I ask it only to show ERROR if Column 3 is not between say 17 and 18%. -- rozbat ------------------------------------------------------------------------ rozbat's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...o&userid=15635 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=271776 |

Ie is there "17.5" somewhere in the formula in each cell? If so then column 4 is superfluous as the only way column 3 will NOT be 17.5% is if you physically change the formula! And don't worry about being 1p out - the VAT man won't mind - really! -- Gordon Burgess-Parker Director, GBP Computing Ltd Small Business Support in Staffs and Derbys www.gbpcomputing.co.uk |
