Hi
i have seen this error before on machines with excel 2000 when service release 1 was not installed (although i didn't install service release 1 so i don't know if this is the fix) ... so what version & service releases are you running (this can be found by choosing help / about). Additionally, you say you entered all the reference files & ranges ... did you type them in or did you have the files open & select the ranges? generally the process that i use is - open all the source files, create a destination file, click on a cell in the destination file, choose data / consolidate, tick the three boxes, then click in the reference line & use the windows menu to get to the first source file, select the range choose Add, repeat for the other files & click OK. Apart from the one time mentioned above i've not had any problem with this method. Hope this helps Cheers JulieD "richuber" wrote in message ... I am trying consolidation for the first time.
