Conditional formatting
Good morning Jamie -
Sounds like you want to change the Number Format of a cell based on a value in a cell, using Conditional Formatting. Sorry you only can change 3 "Formats" using conditional formatting. Font - Regular - Italic - Bold - Bold Italic - Underline and Color Border - Top Bottom Left Right and Color Patterns - Pattern and Color You would need a macro to obtain the results that you are asking for: Changing the number format of a cell based on the value of that or another cell. For example In A2, if A1=x then format as whole number, otherwise format as 00:00:00 I have A2 formatted as 00:00:00, but not sure how ti enter the whole number part in CF Many thanks!!! Jamie ** |

conditional formatting
i have a column with about 10 different values in each
cell, in the rows going across from each column are other values related to the corresponding column cell. i need each row to be conditionally formatted to identify if the value is greater than the home column/cell, but conditional formatting can only be used three times. i don't know if there is any formula that can do the same thing...apply formatting? so basically, on each row (Row 1) i need to determine if the cells (B1-H1) are greater than the value in the first cell (A1). but i need to do this for about 10 rows. any ideas?????? i'm stumped... |

conditional formatting
Hi Angela
try the following (I assume you test each row individually) - select all your cells from B1 to Hx - Goto 'Conditional format' and enter the following formula: =B1$A1 - choose your format for values the first column Frank angela wrote: i have a column with about 10 different values in each cell, in the rows going across from each column are other values related to the corresponding column cell. i need each row to be conditionally formatted to identify if the value is greater than the home column/cell, but conditional formatting can only be used three times. i don't know if there is any formula that can do the same thing...apply formatting? so basically, on each row (Row 1) i need to determine if the cells (B1-H1) are greater than the value in the first cell (A1). but i need to do this for about 10 rows. any ideas?????? i'm stumped... |
