Default What is a show/hide symbol ?

Whenever I open my M Word, I get this show/hide symbol for every start of the
line. Due to this, I also get every word separated by dots.

How do I switch this symbol off from the default settings?

PLEASE HELP.

Default not a formatting problem-little red dots

in between spaces in the text, on the same leval as the bottow of letters
sows up these very very small red dots. They are not spell check, they are
not hyper link, they are not paragraph symbols. they have been on a while
and driving me nuts.
Thanks D

It might be text animation (or possibly hidden text). Which version of Word
are you using?

See the Help topic "I see something unusual in my document" at
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/wo...894821033.aspx. Your red dots
(if they're actually "purple" and just look red) could indicate Smart Tags.
