Default How can I keep a word on a list but have it crossed off

I'm trying to make a list and when something on that list was bought, I
wanted to cross it off (draw a line through it) so others that are receiving
the list will know not to buy it.

I know it can be done because I've seen it but don't know how to do it.

Can anyone help?

Thank you.

Format the item as Strikethrough (Format | Font).

It's under Fonts (on your Ribbon (2007), or your Format menu
(earlier)): Select the text you want to cross out, and click on
Strikethrough. There doesn't seem to be a preset keyboard shortcut for
it, but there are ways to assign one (different in the different
versions).
