Do you have Norton?

You might want to check out your security options in Outlook or whatever email
client you use.

Actually I believe it is a problem with both MSN and Publisher because I
was able to attach the file directly using MSN.

Trying to use the drop down "File" while the document is open and then "Send
email" then "Send as Publication Attachment is the culprit here. And
interestingly, each time I try to send it through the drop down menu in
Publisher, the error appears in the MSN email in hexidecimal incrementseach
time I attempt to attach it. IE: pubCA6.tmp to just now and error
pubDAF.tmp.

The error in the MSN email says: "Virus or unsafe files were detected in
one or more attached files. The following attached files were removed or
cleaned: pubDAF.tmp" resulting in an empty emai.

Yes, I found a workaround but why is this happening? Can you duplicate it?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply...I thought the .tmp
file could be the problem but I don't know
why it's happening unless it's an issue
with MSN. At least you discovered a
satisfactory way to send the file.

I have no idea why it's happening...when I
try it...Publisher saves the file with the .pub
extension before it attaches it to the OE
message. The mystery (at least to me) is
why your system is attaching the .tmp file.

OK JoAnn, I didn't know that. Thanks for the response.

It must be a fault of sending and email via Publisher. I simply opened an
email in MSN and attached the file from there rather that via Publisher
and
it works just fine. Don't know why but such is the case.

Thanks for your response.

This is my 3rd attempt to answer you. I keep getting server busy and I
lose
my reply to bit heaven. One more time.

MSN gives the error and identifies the documnet as a tmp file and
generates
the errors when I attempt to attach the file in an email using File in
Publisher. I never get to send it out as MSN removes the "tmp" from the
email and I end up with a blank email.

How

My Norton is current and does not see a virus.

OK John,
My understanding is that it does work with OE and I am using MSN. I am ok
with that. Apparently it is the combo of Publisher and MSN. Thanks for your
response.

OK, I am told that it only works with Outlook Express and yes, my Norton is
up to date. I do not use OE. MSN works fine, it does not if used within
Publisher. So I am OK and will not try to email it from Publisher.

Thanks for the info.

Just a thought: why not use one of the freeware programs to create a PDF and
email that instead?

That's actually a much better way but I've done it the same ways as she has
on occasion.

OK, Bruce, I would love to convert it to PDF format, but Publisher does not
offer that. I email it out to have someone else convert it for me and then I
email our first draft in PDF for proofing to those that don't have Publisher.
When the .pub is corrected, we then send it out again for reformatting to
PDF for our website. It is a pain. Can you tell me the name of thefreeware
conversion program?

PS: How come Publisher doesn't offer PDF formatting?

An example is PrimoPDF, available from www.primopdf.com

Does require Publisher to offer anything other than a Print button.

Because Microsoft has never had the time and/or inclination to add it.

This will hopefully change in 2007 Microsoft Publisher, but there is now the
possibility that it won't, as Adobe is attempting to sue Microsoft for
including it.
