Default clipboard not clearing

Using the clipboard to repeatedly copy and paste text I am finding that
although the clipboard is showing empty, the previous text to the currently
selected is still coming up when I paste. Does anyone have a solution to
this problem please?

Do you have the Office Clipboard open from the Edit menu? Can you clear it when
it is open?

Can you open the Clipboard from the System32 folder and delete the contents?
(C:\WINDOWS\system32) It is named clipbrd.exe.)
Maybe a repair?
