Default Duplicate Normal.dot

Can someone explain to me why there is a shortcut of my Normal.dot in this
folder?

C:\Documents and Settings\stombk\Application
Data\Microsoft\Office\Recent\normal.dot

It shows a file size of just 1KB and does not have a ~ symbol in front of it.
Could this be the cause of my ongoing issues with a duplicate normal running
in the background when using Workshare to do my Word comparisons? The the
following error when using Worksha

Word cannot save this file because it's already
open elsewhere. (C:\Documents and Settings\...Normal.dot).

Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you.

That is just a list of recently opened documents containing shortcuts, not actual documents. I would right click on the shortcut to normal.dot, get properties, and locate the original, to determine if it is the normal.dot in the correct location, or another normal.dot
