Relative cell address
I created an excel file which extracts information from several workbooks.
In one column, the address is relative (i.e.: ='[file_name1.xls]Spreadsheet_name'!$B$25), while in other columns the address is absolute (i.e.: ='C:\Documents and Settings\SaarB\My Documents\[file_name1.xls]Spreadsheet_name'!$B$25). How can I turn all addresses to relative format? This is essential so that when copying the files to another computer, the file identifies all other excel files which it is linked to. Any help would be most appreciated. Saar |

Relative cell address
No need to multipost, especially using different subject lines.

The former format is used when the file concerned is open. I think you may have links to 2 different file_name1.xls files in different directories. Take a look in Edit / Links Links to files in the same directory as the active workbook (or a subdirectory or parent thereof) will always be treated as relative - if you move all the files keeping the same relative position in the directory tree then the links will continue to work. They will always appear in the second format above when the source file is closed - but that doesn't mean they won't be treated as relative.
