Default excel name only refreshes after clicking equation button

I have a cell that references a named cell on another worksheet within
the same workbook. I save and retrieve the first worksheet for
storage. Upon retrieval the cell value is set to "#NAME?" even though
the formula says it is set to the named cell. When I double-click the
cell or click the equation button it then updates appropriately, but I
will have many cells that should be doing this automatically. What
should I do?

Which version of Excel?
Is it a straight reference to a named cell ( e.g. =MyName ) or
something more complicated?

Hi Frank.
Yeah, even if I explictily go to the calculate option within options
and tell it to calculate the value stays with the error message.
Automatic calculation is enabled in my settings.

I am using Excel 2000 ( 9.0.3821 ) on windows XP.
The reference is straghtforward : "=SubjectStreet"

What is not straightforward is the storage and retrieval of the
worksheet.
The whole architecture of doing this involves copying the individual
worksheet to a temporary file which is stored off in a database as a
binary. I then retrieve the sheet and copy it back into the workbook
with a new worksheet name, whereupon the cell values come up "#NAME?"
for no apparent good reason. The process is reliable, though full of
architectural questions as to what to do with the names and formula
references. This is the simplest case reference. I have found that
setting the formula value of the cell to itself causes the value to be
updated. This is a long operation to perform on every cell in the
sheet. Is there a spec somewhere on how excel reference syntax works?
I am getting bogged down in experimentally figuring this out.

Thanks Bill.

It MIGHT help to apply the various service packs.
Current version is 9.0.6926 SP-3.

If you look in Insert / Name / Define what do you see SubjectStreet
refering to?
