Default Newsgroup Message display

Windows XP(Home) SP3, Outlook Express 6, IE-8

Hi, this is not a serious problem, more of an annoyance due to deteriorating
eyesight.

I am wondering if there is a control, clickable button, or check mark that
can be activated to change my Newsgroup messages that I display?

When downloading new messages they appear in Bold until selected to
view/display. Once selected they revert to un-bold(washed out font) to
distinguish them from the unread messages. The problem is that the displayed
messages in the message pane, sometimes display in bold and at other times
display un-bold (washed out), for no rhyme or reason that I can discover.
Naturally, I would like the messages to always display in bold which is
easier for me to read. Is this controllable in someway? Thanks for any help
or insight that anyone can give.

Right click on the Desktop | Properties | Appearance. If there is an
Advanced button click that. In the Item drop-down box select Icon. Change
the font size there.

Note that this will change the font size in some other places as well.

There are other options right there for bold fonts as well. You'll have to
play around a bit.

In Tools, Options, Read you could uncheck the option to automatically
mark messages as read after viewing for xx seconds.

The reason is the way that you read your messages. ; )

Only if you only read your messages in the Preview pane.
If you open a message in its own message window it will be
marked Read regardless of whether you would normally
want messages viewed from the Preview pane never to be
marked Read.

BTW if you do have a message marked Read be aware
that you can always mark it Unread. E.g. press Menu, n
for example.

Thanks for any help
or insight that anyone can give.

Hello, and thanks to all who replied. One of the suggestions did work.
Where I was encountering at least 4 washed out messages out of 10, I have
not encountered one in the last 150 messages I have opened to display. I
cant say exactly what change did the trick, Bruce's suggestion to play
around in the boxes is what i did. In the Properties/Appearance box and in
the Options/Read box. I do know that I did not have "read in Plain Text
only" ticked and I ticked it. Also, i changed "Mark messages read after X",
from 0 to the default 5sec, to 1sec. Anyway, my poor old eyes thank you.
