Using Access 2007 in Vista
I was able to get my new Vista machine to operate Visio 2003 just fine but
Access 2003 will not load as it does not recognize Vista as a Microsoft OS. Is there a patch or way around this? Microsoft tech assist says they both should work. |

Using Access 2007 in Vista
Access 2007 had been working on my old computer with Office 2003. However, it
will not even load into this new Vista machine as it says it does not recognize the MS operating system. Using Access 2007 in Vista
I am a bit confused. What do you have installed and what are you trying
to install? Can you please be especially careful about the version number, as you seem to be mixing up 2003 and 2007 to the point that I don't know anymore what you are trying to do what your current state is. Using Access 2007 in Vista
I have been using Office 2003 on an XP machine for the past 4 years. I bought
the Visio 2003 and Access 2003 add-on programs and used them also on the XP machine. I just bought a new Vista machine with Office 2007 Small Business Edition and I tried to load the Visio 2003 and Access 2003 on this new machine. Visio loaded fine and works fine. Access says that it does not recognize the proper Microsoft operating system and it specifically refers to OS up to XP and says that one of them must be on the machine for it to load. I hope this is plain enough. MS told me they both would work on the new machine without having to buy all the new software for Office 2007. "Patrick Schmid [MVP]" wrote: I am a bit confused. Using Access 2007 in Vista
Yes, this explains it well. Thank you.
Do you have the Office 2007 SBE CD/DVD? If yes, then please remove it completely. Whenever you want to have two versions of Office on the same computer, the oldest one needs to be installed first. So in your case, you need to install Visio and Access 2003 before you can install Office 2007 SBE. Access 2003 does work with Vista. I am actually running it myself here under Vista. The issue seems to be that the setup program is flaky. When you run setup, you could try right-clicking the setup program, Properties, Compatibility and then setting it to be XP SP2 Compatible. I am not sure though if it will do anything. Using Access 2007 in Vista
I really have no other reason to run both 2003 and 2007. Visio 2003 loaded
fine and seems to run fine under Vista and without Office 2003 fully loaded and running, and I use it a lot more than Access. MS had told me that this would be case for both machines without saying anything about having both versions running. Since I rarely use Access, I may just give up and buy a new Access if and when I have a large need to use it. "Patrick Schmid [MVP]" wrote: Yes, this explains it well. Thank you.
