Changing display order of primary & secondary axes in Excel charts
I'm trying to create a chart that uses horizontal bars to indicate the ideal
stacking of tenants in a building (with each row containing several different boxes, or tenants, depending upon the size of the floor) in Excel 2003. One entry in the data table for this chart is "available floor area" which indicates the total sq. ft. available on each floor; this entry is plotted on the secondary axis, and all the tenants' (sq.ft.) leases are shown on the primary axis. Ideally, objects on the primary axis (bars representing individual tenant leases)should show up as being in front of the objects on the secondary axis (total floor size). By default, Excel seems to show objects on the secondary axis in front of objects on the primary axis. Since I'm working with ~150 rows containing lease info and only 1 row containing floor area, I'd like to put the floor area on the secondary axis (and have it show up as a background element) rather than manually switch 150 rows to the secondary axis. Does anybody know of a way to switch the default display order of primary and secondary axes? Thanks, |

Hi,
I don't believe you can change the order of primary/secondary data. You can only change the order within primary or secondary. Although some combinations of charts do automatically reverse the order. An area chart on the secondary axis is plotted behind bars/lines on the primary. Maybe you could revise your chart to take advantage of this. You could use some VBA code to at least make the process of switching data easier.
