2007 Home and Student rejects activation key
Hi
I was recently given a Toshiba laptop as a gift. It came with Windows Vista and a trial version of Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 installed, but no discs for either. The activation wizard rejects the key on the sticker underneath the laptop... Can anyone help? I have already been through the help and support system but didn't find a solution. Thanks, Belgium |

Look closely at that sticker. It does not say OFFICE, it says WINDOWS. You
need to call the manufacturer and ask them where the product key is located. You do not get a disk for the trial version of Office and many manufacturers stopped including a backup Windows CD. -- JoAnn Paules MVP Microsoft [Publisher] Tech Editor for "Microsoft Publisher 2007 For Dummies" "Belgium" wrote in message ... Thanks, Belgium As JoAnn said, there will be no CD/DVD for the trial of Office that is installed on the Toshiba laptop. Even if you have the activation key it will only activate for 60 days as a trial then becomes a file viewer only. If you want Office after that period you need to purchase it. The manufacturer only needs to provide one method of reinstalling the operating system to the factory delivered status. This can be either an actual Windows CD, a rebuild CD/DVD or a restore partition on the hard drive. I believe Toshiba elects to use the last method on their newer laptops. If you received no documentation with the laptop I would strongly suggest you go to Toshiba's web site and download the operating manual for your system. In it there should be directions on how to create a backup restore media set. This should be one of the first things any person who receives a system should do after turning it on the first time. |
