AAARGHHH - SKU011.CAB - LISTOOL - WHAT A BUNCH OF GARBAGE!!!!
Come on, isn't anyone working on this CR@P?
I've spent hundreds of dollars for software that can't be installed because every installation I attempt is asking for this SKU011.CAB file which has never, and will never exist!!! I have today, Sunday, budgeted for a VSTO project and I can't get this off the ground because I can't even get the damn thing installed!!!! I've got Action Pack, I've got MSDN Universal. I've bought and paid for all this software but I can't get this installed because Microsoft can't put together a decent installer!!! I can't even repair my Office installation. Same damn thing - it's looking for SKU011. What a bunch of garbage. I can't even run LISTOOL successfully. I've slipped in my Action Pack CD, I've slipped in my MSDN DVD but the LISTOOL won't recognize either media. What the hell is it looking for? Whoever put this CR@P together should be FIRED! I can say that because I lead a team of developers and if we put our customers through this we'd all be looking for work. Sorry, I don't usually post flames of this nature to the NG, but I'm completely and justifiably ****ed. If Microsoft can't devleop an installer to get this stuff off the DVD and onto my PC, then they should get the hell out of the software business and leave it to those who can!!! - Joseph Geretz - |

AAARGHHH - SKU011.CAB - LISTOOL - WHAT A BUNCH OF GARBAGE!!!!
OK, so I've been fiddling around with this for over an hour - uninstalling,
reinstalling, repairing. Now I'm at the point where the VSTO Setup launches a Microsoft Office Setup dialog which is prompting me for PRO11.MSI. Now I've got two Office Professional media disks - 1 on CD and one on DVD and I can tell you - THERE - IS - NO - PRO11.MSI. The name of the file is PRO11N.MSI. So how the hell am I supposed to satisfy the dialog? Who dreams this stuff up??!! - Joseph Geretz - "Joseph Geretz" wrote in message ... Come on, isn't anyone working on this CR@P? AAARGHHH - SKU011.CAB - LISTOOL - WHAT A BUNCH OF GARBAGE!!!!
Hi Joseph,
SKU011.cab is from the Retail Office 2003 Professional CD. MSDN uses the Enterprise edition of MS Office 2003. Pro11.MSI is from the retail edition. Pro11N.msi is from non-resale (Evals, Action Pack, MSDN, etc) editions. From your description the original installation may have been from a retail CD. You may want to try the steps from this article for the SKUxxx.cab issue http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896866/en-us?FR=1 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/875556/en-us?FR=1 but from your description using the MS Windows Installer Cleanup utility to remove the registry entries for Office http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/en-us?FR=1 restart the PC, then install Office 2003 from one of the product CDs you have, may be needed. Backup before starting of course ============== "Joseph Geretz" wrote in message ... OK, so I've been fiddling around with this for over an hour - uninstalling, reinstalling, repairing. AAARGHHH - SKU011.CAB - LISTOOL - WHAT A BUNCH OF GARBAGE!!!!
Thanks Bob.
I've taken the only course of action I could see to straighten this whole mess out. I completely uninstalled and reinstalled ALL of my Microsoft Office products: Office Project Outlook FrontPage Since then I've been able to install VSTO but I don't see the Office project templates under Visual C# in the New Project dialog. This is ridiculous. 4 hours and still not installed. Absurd. People say that the value of paid software over open source is support. What support? Some guy in Bombay who tells me that I'll need to call back tomorrow? Anyway, thanks for your help. - Joseph Geretz - "Bob Buckland ?:-)" 75214.226(At Beautiful Downtown)compuserve.com wrote in message ...
