Error installing Office XP onto a new computer
I have a copy of Office XP Professional Version 2002 that I had previously
installed on an old computer. I have upgraded to a new computer, and would live to install my copy of Office XP on the new computer. It gives me an error 1608: a qualifying product cannot be found on your machine and gives me the option to select another drive. The troubleshooting guides say that can be caused by having previous versios of Office installed (none are installed- this is a brand new computer) or that I'm trying to use an upgrade CD. Nowhere on the CD does it say Upgrade, and on the old computer when I installed it, I had no problems. Even though I didn't have earlier versions installed on that computer, either. What is happening here?? How can I get it to install correctly?? How do I know if this is an Upgrade CD? It doesn't say Upgrade anywhere on it. I alm also sure I am typing the correct Product key off the back of the CD case. ~Jenn |

You have an upgrade version. See http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=290540
"Products that qualify for the Microsoft Office XP upgrade". If you have one of these products, insert the CD for the qualifying product when prompted by the Office XP installer. If not, you'll have to buy a full version. "JennA" wrote: I have a copy of Office XP Professional Version 2002 that I had previously installed on an old computer.
