VLookup a Vlookup
Hi,
I have created a VLOOKUP function which looks up a value in a different Workbook. Bases on this returned value I would like to create a VLOOKUP which looks up a value in the original workbook but a different worksheet. My problem seems to be creating a VLOOKUP on a formula. Below is what I have used so far. Original =IF(D170,VLOOKUP(D,'[printing.XLS]TO GO'!$B:$H,4,FALSE),"TM") Now I need to create a VLOOKUP on that result but it keeps returning #N/A. Cheers, Adam |

Adam,
You want something along these lines: =IF(J170,VLOOKUP(VLOOKUP(I1,$B:$H,4,FALSE),$K$1:$ L$5,2,FALSE),"TM") This looks for value in I1 in Columns B to H, and uses the result to to find a value in K1 to L5. In your VLOOKUP, you don't appear to have a lookup value as you have defined this as column D (D). { VLOOKUP(D,'[printing.XLS]TO GO'!$B:$H,4,FALSE) } HTH "adamb2000" wrote: Hi, I have created a VLOOKUP function which looks up a value in a different Workbook. =IF(D170,VLOOKUP(D,'[printing.XLS]TO GO'!$B:$H,4,FALSE),"TM")
Perhaps a possible typo in above: Lookup value: D should be: D17 instead ? -- Max Singapore http://savefile.com/projects/236895 xdemechanik --- "adamb2000" wrote: Hi, I have created a VLOOKUP function which looks up a value in a different Workbook. VLookup a Vlookup
Hi Adam,
How are you referencing your first vlookup cell in your second vlookup? If you address the cell directly you will get an error but not if you address it as VALUE(). So your second formula would be something like =VLOOKUP(VALUE(K17) etc....etc... HTH Martin |

Thanks you all for your help,
Martin adding Value did the trick, I can now catch up on the two days work I spent trying to figure it out, Cheers Adam "adamb2000" wrote: Hi, I have created a VLOOKUP function which looks up a value in a different Workbook.
