Default how do i use symbol of degree in excell work sheet using key board

to use symbol of degree " ° "
I have to go to start+programs+accessories+systom tools+character Map+search
for degree
U+00B0EGREE SIGN KEY STROKE:Alt+0176

Iused the key stroke Alt + 0176 But degree sign ° does not appear in the
excell sheet cell or on the office document , is there any easy method
Please advise

Default how do i use symbol of degree in excell work sheet using key board

When you hold the Alt key down, are you using the keys on the numeric keypad
to the right of your keyboard to enter 0176

It does not work if using the keys along top of keyboard. Don't know how you
get on if it is a notebook without numeric keypad.

Another way you can do it is in any cell enter the formula =CHAR(176) and
then copy-paste special-values to remove the formula.

You can then select the cell and highlight the character in the formula bar
and copy it and then paste it into another formula.

You could set up a Custom Format for cells you wish to have the degree
symbol appear in.

Type a zero(0) then hold Alt key and 0176 on the NumPad as Ossiemac points
out.
