Problems with images
Hi
I have a very lengthy doc that contains a lot of images downloaded from a resource site we use for work - think the images are in jpeg. Problem is that even at 70 pages my file size is nearly 200mb! I need to increase the size of this file by 4 times however cannot have an 800mb file. Is there a way to reduce the image file size / type? I have looked every where on the net for a free tool to do this however cannot find one. I am even concerned that if I can gain access to Adobe Acrobat it may not shrink the images far enough. Appreciate any advice! Regards Bill --- Message posted from http://www.ExcelForum.com/ |

Hi Bill
You have two choices here (and you can use both simultaneously). 1. Use an external imaging editor (PhotoShop, Corel Draw, Paint Shop Pro, whatever) to reduce the size of the images in quality and/or physical size. 2. When you place a photo into the document, link it to the original image file, rather than embedding the file within the Word document. For example, if you're inserting the images using Insert Picture From File, then look at the Insert button. You can see a small arrow beside it. Click that and choose the appropriate option. And in any case, make sure that Word isn't keeping a preview image of the document. File Properties. On the Summary tab, un-tick "Save Preview Picture". Hope this helps. Shauna Kelly.
