Default managing data files

when we select existing data file (pst) as default instead of normal exhange
folder, delivery of mails does not take place. it results an error "unable to
perform the action on exchange".

In what version of Outlook? Outlook 2007 Beta 2 doesn't support delivery to .pst files (and it's not recommended for any version).

Outlook 12 = Outlook 2007. Please reread my response, then reconfigure Outlook to use Cached Exchange mode for current data and an archive .pst file for old data.

V12 is OL 2007, so you can't deliver to a PST. Delivery to Exchange and use
a rule that moves all messages to a PST if you must, leaving all non-mail on
the Exchange server.

You don't need a PST to work offline. That's what cached Exchange mode and
offline folders are for.
